With five generations of olive growing heritage in southern Spain, when Lola moved to Hampshire after marrying Ben, her family’s olive oil and style of cooking came with her. Lola embraced British culture and traditions, learning new recipes from Ben’s family. Yet, she always added a special ingredient, her family’s olive oil. The combination created healthy and delicious results. Now, the same family grown olives are milled with help from Ben in Spain, introducing a passionate, British touch. The Old Shop in Cheriton, Hampshire is where Two&One began. Friends were invited to suppers that Lola prepared from local ingredients together with her family’s olive oil from Spain. In the converted village shop, with its old wooden beams and oak floors, a menu of quintessentially English food was shared… with just one difference – Lola’s extra virgin olive oil. Stories and good times abounded, yet the conversation frequently returned to the olive oil. Guests were amazed – how cooking with one special ingredient could enhance traditional dishes they had always known and transform them into a feast! The range of three different olive oils all come from the same variety of olive, but harvested at three different times of the year. Green (early), green starting to show more colour (mid), black olives (later season)... Verde, Envero, Negra. Many of the Olive trees that go into making the oil are over 200 years old!!
